1st Annual Strike Out Childhood Cancer Night

The 1st Annual Strike Out Childhood Cancer Night will take place on August 8, 2009 at Durham Bulls Athletic Park (DBAP). The game begins at 7:05 pm and gates to DBAP will open at 6:05 pm. 

This Childhood Cancer Awareness Night will be held during the Bulls home game versus the Syracuse Chiefs on 8/8. The Bulls players and coaches will wear special jerseys during the game which will be autographed and auctioned off along with other sports and music memorabilia. The silent auction will be held during the game and will continue online for the following week. Children with cancer will take part in the Field of Dreams team where they will go onto the field with the players during the National Anthem. Community organizations serving children with cancer will participate and we giving away free awareness materials. Organizations such as The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society; St. Baldricks Foundation; Strike 3 Foundation; Bounceback Kids and the Ronald McDonald House of Durham are all slated to participate. Immediately following the game, a fireworks show will begin as well as a lighting of luminaria in the infield known as the Field of Memories. This will honor and remember children afflicted with cancer. To purchase a luminaria bag, contact Ashley Voss (ashley@rockagainstcancer.org).
A concert with local band, The High & Mighties will commence after the fireworks along with drinks for purchase. 

A ticket package is available on the Durham Bulls website (www.durhambulls.com). The package consists of a Terrace Reserved game ticket and admission to the concert for $12 ($4 goes to Rock Against Cancer). Concert tickets are also available online for $5 each.
